To keep the students geared up for the opening of classes for the second semester of academic year 2023-2024, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), headed by Dr. Ma. Paz G. Contreras, conducted a re-orientation program last February 8 at the City of Meycauayan Convention Center (MCC).
Freshmen students from Teacher Education Program (TEP), Hospitality Management Program (HMP), and Office Administration Program (OAP) attended the said undertaking. As stated on the Student Manual of the Polytechnic College of the City of Meycauayan (PCCM), students are required to be present in orientations.
Re-orientation programs for freshmen are being held to re-visit the different college services offered to them that support them academically and personally. Additionally, it provides new students and transferees the grasp of understanding about academic and student services.
Through the dynamic discussions from the offices of PCCM, the students were enlightened further regarding safety and security, academic awards and distinctions, guidance counseling, library system, scholarship programs, student activities facilitation, health care services, and student accident insurance.
The City of Meycauayan has been an important role player in the holistic development of the students by allowing programs and activities to be conducted at MCC. With that, Mr. Ireneo Resurrecion, Safety and Security Officer from the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Office (CDRRMO), presented the safety reminders during the use of MCC, especially when there are unexpected natural calamities.
Ms. Leslie V. Rubio, Insurance Representative, explained the terms and conditions regarding the accident insurance of the students. It was viewed as a benefit for the students since insurance is an investment and a protection. It is another safety gear that students are equipped with as they continue their studies at the PCCM.
Moreover, Ms. Rhia Joyce Rulloda, College Student Government (CSG) President, had her moving forward message that invited the students to become part of various Accredited College Societies and Organizations (ACSO). She also mentioned that there were open positions that students might be interested to fill in. Together with the officers of CSG, freshmen were boosted up through an energizer that was prepared for them.
Each program was given the spotlight to deliver short messages about their program. Mr. Frederick L. Berboso, MAEd, Head of TEP, stated that students should always greet inside the campus premises, while Ms. Ma. Sheryl O. Decilio, MHE, Head of HMP, added few reminders for freshmen student. Lastly, OAP Head Ms. Rose Kathleen G. Delos Santos, MBA, highlighted that students should be inculcated with discipline.
As the program started with warmth through a message from the College Dean and Acting College Administrator, Dr. Reneliza C. Sta. Ana, it also ended with meaningful remarks from Mr. Gerard M. Gaza, Administrative Officer V.
