The Polytechnic College of the City of Meycauayan (PCCM) Hospitality Management Program (HMP) team achieved an unprecedented double victory— Best Research Paper and Best Research Presenter—at the 5th Association of Local Colleges and Universities Region III (ALCU R3) Student Research Conference, hosted virtually by Limay Polytechnic College via Zoom on December 5, 2024. This remarkable feat marks the HMP’s inaugural participation in the ALCU R3 conference, transforming their debut into a stunning triumph. The winning team comprised Lovely V. Marasigan, Marcel S. Moselina, Crissia Mae B. Jamisola, Jessie E. Escultura, Kyla Mae Manalastas, Jocel A. Milan, Karla Jhones R. Talusig, Adrian Isaac M. Mallari, Karylle M. Labaclado, Aaron L. Sanchez, and Christin Joy D. Taccad.
Their research, “Travel Tayo: Evaluating the Influence of Travel Vlogs on the Travel Decision-Making of Faculty & Personnel at PCCM,” explored the significant influence of travel vlogs in today’s digital age. The study’s impact resonated deeply with the judges, securing the coveted awards.
The groundwork for this success was laid at the inaugural Hospitality Management Research Colloquium on November 27, 2024, held at Tanghalang Meycaueño, a pivotal event featuring keynote speaker Dr. Ernesto R. Mateo, a former TEP Program Head and faculty member. The students received crucial feedback and encouragement under the expert guidance of their thesis adviser and head of the Research & Development Office, Dr. Maricar Ortaleza, and with the invaluable support of Dean & Acting College Administrator Dr. Rizza Sta Ana, HMP Head Prof. Maria Sheryl, subject adviser Prof. Maricris Matus Ampuan, and other advisers–Dr. Ma Paz Contreras, Mr. Lorenz Geraldez, Ms. Karen Castro, Mr. Ryan Samson, Ms. Danica Borja, Ms. Rizza Bicaldo, and Ms. Rian Tolomia. This collaborative mentorship proved instrumental in shaping their research and presentation skills.
This extraordinary accomplishment underscores the power of passion, creativity, and teamwork. The HMP students have set a new standard for excellence and demonstrated that ambitious goals are within reach for all PCCM students who dare to dream big. The college eagerly anticipates future breakthroughs from its remarkably talented students.
This milestone propels the Hospitality Management Program to new heights. Congratulations to these trailblazing students! Their success inspires PCCM and makes us incredibly proud. Will you be part of the next winning team?
