Meycauayan City, June 14, 2024 – The Polytechnic College of the City of Meycauayan (PCCM) held its 19th Commencement Exercises today at the Meycauayan Convention Center (MCC). The event, themed “The Global PCCMians: Realizing Dreams and Creating Legacies,” was a celebration of academic achievement and future aspirations.

Hosted by Ms. Janet R. Tabios and Mr. Lorenz F. Geraldez, the ceremony began with a grand procession of fourth-year students from the Teacher Education Program (TEP) and Hospitality Management Program (HMP), followed by the entrance of PCCM’s Administrative Division, Student Services Division, Teaching Staff, and the Board of Trustees (BOT).

The formal program commenced with the entrance of colors and the rendition of the Philippine National Anthem. Ms. Angelika B. San Pedro, Magna Cum Laude from BSHM 4B, led the prayer, followed by the “Awit ng Lungsod ng Meycauayan” and the PCCM Hymn. Mr. Anjello G. Libao, Acting Registrar, presented the candidates for graduation, and Ms. Erica Mae V. Baw, Magna Cum Laude from BSED Math 4A, delivered the Address of Petition. Dr. Reneliza C. Sta. Ana, College Dean and Acting College Administrator, conferred the degrees. The Valedictory Address by Summa Cum Laude graduate Mike Angelo C. Afable from BSED Math 4A was a highlight, inspiring the audience with his story of academic excellence.

Hon. Atty. Henry R. Villarica, Meycauayan City Mayor and BOT Chairperson, then delivered a special video message, highlighting the paths ahead for fresh graduates—whether entering the workforce immediately or pursuing further studies and self-employment. Another inspiring video message was delivered by Hon. Cong. Linabelle Ruth R. Villarica, encouraging the graduates to act with integrity. “Wherever your path may lead you, you are the diamonds of Meycauayan,” she mentioned. The Commencement Speaker, Dr. Lora Landayan Yusi, Director IV of the Commission on Higher Education, Regional Office III, delivered a heartfelt speech, sharing a touching story about a father’s sacrifice for his children’s education. “Value your parents and teachers,” she advised, “for their sacrifices have paved the way for your success.” Dr. Yusi was honored with a Certificate of Recognition for her contributions.

The ceremony continued with the awarding of the UNIFAST Academic Excellence Award to Ms. Erica Mae V. Baw, followed by congratulatory messages from City Councilors Hon. Raoul M. Atadero, Hon. Wilfredo “Ching” Macatulad, Atty. Lara Abracero, and City Administrator Ms. Pia Ramirez-Delos Santos. Vice Mayor Hon. Josefina O. Violago addressed the graduates, emphasizing their future roles as leaders. The presentation of academic honors and special awards followed, in which Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude graduates for the 2023-2024 batch were recognized by Mr. Anjello G. Libao and Dr. Ma. Paz G. Contreras, Director of the Student Affairs, Student Services, and Alumni Relations Office. Special recognitions were given to Mr. Gherome R. Patricio for a Special Citation Award, and Campus Leadership Awards to Mr. John Abraham P. Balderama, Ms. April Mae G. Vargas, and Mr. Mike Angelo C. Afable.

The distribution of diplomas to graduates from the TEP and HMP followed. Ms. Shaira D. Reyes, Magna Cum Laude from BHSM 4B, gave the Address of Thanks, expressing gratitude on behalf of the graduates. City Councilor Hon. Kat Hernandez delivered a special message, and Mr. Renzo E. Milan, Magna Cum Laude from BSHM 4B, led the Pledge of Loyalty. The Oath of PCCM was taken by Ms. Katrina Nicole G. Dela Cruz, Magna Cum Laude from BSED Math 4A. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt rendition of “Long Live” by Taylor Swift and the exit of colors, to which the graduates joyously threw their toga caps, symbolizing their hopeful futures and the culmination of their hard-earned academic journey.
