February 16, 2023, at the Meycauayan Convention Center (MCC), the 6th Pledging Rites ceremony marked a memorable moment for 4th-year Hospitality and Management Program (HMP) students of Polytechnic College of the City of Meycauayan (PCCM) as they proceed with their internship program at their chosen companies.
The program commenced with a prayer followed by the Philippine National Anthem led by the PCCM Glee Club, the Awit ng Meycauayan as composed by Mrs. Imelda N. Guzman, and the PCCM Hymn by the HMP Faculty and Glee Club Adviser.
Mr. Gerard M. Gaza, Administrative Officer V, opened the program by delivering his opening remarks. Dr. Reneliza C. Sta. Ana, the College Dean, gave an inspirational and congratulatory speech and urged student interns to work hard and overcome significant obstacles in their On-the-Job Training (OJT) journey. In a special speech, Ms. Pia Delos Santos Ramirez, representing Atty. Henry R. Villarica, the City Mayor, and PCCM Board of Trustees Chairman, encouraged students to demonstrate their love and fervor for their chosen field of work. The Program’s Statement of Purpose was also read by Mrs. Tracy Zyza D. Leopoldo-Casipit, HMP Faculty, and Industrial Coordinator.
The Presentation of the Hospitality Management Symbols was commenced by Mr. Rolando Salonga, a chef, and a former HMP Student of PCCM, for the pineapple symbol, followed by Mr. Michael Reyes, an alumnus, for the wine symbol, Mr. John Patrick Bagaforo, Food and Beverage, and an alumnus, for the toque, Mrs. Shine De Pedro, Housekeeping, and an alumnus for the key symbol, and lastly, Mr. Ronnie Manzo, food and beverage, and an alumnus, for the coat and tie symbol.
The event also shed light on the presentation of the student interns by Prof. Maria Sheryl O. Decilio, the Hospitality Management Program Head. The oath-taking of the students was led by Mr. Christian Miko C. Amoto, the current President of BSHM 4A, while Mrs. Jonna B. Malacaste, the parent representative, led the oath-taking for the parents and guardians of the students.
A special moment was also shared in the middle of the program by the students as they took a bow in front of their accompanied parents and acting guardians to show their love and respect. A selected group of 4th-year and 3rd-year students took their acceptance of responsibilities. Dr. Ma. Paz G. Contreras, SSASD Head, and Office of the Students Affairs and Services (OSAS) Director, ended the program with her closing remarks.
